Becky M Newsletter

Monday 29th October, 2007

I must apologise to you all for not being on the ball with these Jottings, but I have had one or two distractions recently, i.e. an elderly parent, and getting to grips with the forthcoming Cod Championships.

Still in between times I have managed to get out and find a few fish for people, the most unusual was a fine Herring of about 1lb 12ozs that was caught by Cliff Trench the other day.

The Cod Comp is coming along fine with a lot of entries arriving daily, with a bit of luck it could be our best year yet, I only hope that the Cod will be in good numbers as well. All the signs are there, with some good reports of plenty of fish beginning to show all over, not massive ones, but ones that will be big enough to give us a competition, combine that with good weather and I will be well pleased.

There have been some good sized Pollock being landed as well, along with some reasonable Bass.

A tip for any new anglers to the winter fishing in our area, you will need at least a 5lb box of squid each, for each trip that you do as you will need to be putting at least 4, or even 5 squid on at a time, also take about four mackerel along with you as they can be used on baited feathers for the Channel Whiting when the tide slackens.

That’s about it for now gents, as I must get these entries sorted.

Tight lines,

Dave
