Where does the time go to!!

It seems as though it was only a couple of weeks ago that I sat down to write the last lot of “jottings”, and here we are nearly at the end of February, and I haven’t written anything for ages.

Well to be honest there hasn’t been a lot to write about at the moment, the weather has been crap, and the fishing hasn’t been much better, but then it is “that time of the year” again, enhanced by a very poor cod season as well. Still spring is just around the corner, and the winter will be forgotten, and with a bit of luck we will have a good season to look forward to.

I have had a few changes made in recent weeks to the boat, which includes a new radar system, plus the addition of a Auto helm.

I must firstly say a big thank you to my mate Dave for the assistance that he afforded to me in getting that little baby sorted, I think that he said there were three different types of threads involved in the fittings, so it was a bit of a Christmas tree type nightmare. Anyway he overcame the problems and I had it commissioned the other day in somewhat testing conditions, (a force six) and it worked perfectly.

The old girl is coming out of the water for a survey at the end of the month, but it is only going to be for a day, so I should get another coat of anti fouling on, the remaining paint jobs I can get done in the water when the weather improves.

We have now chosen the dates for the WWCSA competitions for this year.

The Light Line comp will be held on the 17th August being fished out from Yarmouth, and the British Cod Championships are the 15th/16th November, again fished out from Yarmouth. The entry forms will be sent out in due course.

I have also taken out a schedule page on the deep-sea website offering dates available, so if you haven’t booked your trips yet and you don’t want to be disappointed and miss out on the best dates, then get them booked ASAP.
