A belated Happy New Year to you all.

To continue from where I left off in my last set of jottings, I was reminiscing on how it used to be when we had the big "Lunkers" around, and how they used to make people "grunt" as they were netted, and then lifted aboard, and I was saying how I would like Arron to experience it. Well a few days after writing that set of jottings I had a trip out, and Nipper was also available, so I invited him along for the day to give him a change from beach fishing.

It was a pleasant day to be out, the company was good, and the fishing wasn't too bad either, with fish being caught all the time, mainly dogs and pout, with the occasional conger making out to be a cod.

We managed to boat one cod a fish of about 15lbs, then Ian Johnson managed to hook into a good fish, which was giving him a fair old run around. Then it started to rise up towards the back of the boat just as congers do in the tide, but this time it was a "Lunker" behaving just like a conger, and then it was Nippers turn to get the net and experience the feeling of lifting one of "them" in.

I really must get him to read Alwyn Wheelers book on fish identification again, because Nipper reckoned that it was a "red!!! Pig"., but well done Ian it was a magnificent cod weighing in just over 30lbs. The best one I have had onboard for several years. See the pictures in the photo gallery.

Congratulations must also be given to Eddie Humm, Dave Stanton, and John, (I can't remember his surname) all of who have caught their personal best cod, all of which have been fish over 20lbs, well done to you all.

At the moment all of he charter fleet are being kept in harbour due to the inclement weather that we having at the present time, they are giving warnings out to expect storm force 10 winds, so that will fluff things up a bit.

So for the time being we will all have to look back over the last year, and until we can get back out there we will just have to live off the memories.

Just a reminder for you, there are still some weekend dates available for this coming year, so to avoid being disappointed get your bookings in now.

Tight lines,

Dave
