Hello to you all once again, since my last set of jottings we have managed to have the Light Line Competition, and get a few trips under our belt as well.

This last month didn’t give us a lot of good weather of the sort that we would like to have in August with me having to cancel trips again, on the occasions that I did manage to get out we had some good fish on the boat.

John Metcalf managed to bag himself a good Trigger fish which weighed 3lbs 8ozs, (photo on picture gallery), and I had one reluctant lady angler Rachel Slatter who managed to catch a nice Bass of 7lbs 3ozs, (another photo).

The Light Line Competition this year was held in atrocious conditions, Bob Gawn and I had to get the Harbour Staff to help us off the moorings to start with as the wind was so strong, and we had to leave Yarmouth in very nearly a force eight northerly, so as we could get across to Lymington for the start of the comp, fortunately I was able to sneek in behind the ferry, so once we got going it wasn’t too bad, and the nearer we got to the mainland so the conditions improved. We had a good competition, with lots fish being caught and lots of points being gained, and the top angler on each boat won a bait-casting reel worth about eighty quid.

I have at long last managed to rig up a live-bait tank, and I am pleased to say that it is working well, so now that I have got it I can put it to good use.

It looks as though the weather is going to be good to us all this weekend I only hope that I can put the anglers onto the fish, well September is supposed to be one of the better months, let’s hope that the fish have read the script as well.

I will be busy getting the British Cod Competition entry forms together now, and I hope that I can get them out by the end of the month. Anyway good fishing to you all this month, and let’s hope the weather gods smile upon us.
